And as you read this, take a deep breath. And as you exhale, allow all the tension to leave your body.
Let your scalp and your forehead and your face relax. Your head does not need to be tense in order for you to read this.
Where will my words take you today? Maybe a romantic canal ride in Old England? Where the willow weeps into the water and the soft banks murmur, whispering of a summer, lost but not forgotten, of secrets long since confessed…
Come, let your tongue and your throat and your shoulders relax. You can hold your iPad with relaxed arms and hands.
Feel the warm sun on your breast. Let your back and your abdomen and your pelvis relax, let your breathing be at peace as you relax your legs and feet.
Let the breeze of summer slip across you, a warm sirocco, summoned from the Aegean. Feel her warm waters calling you, lifting you, until you’re floating free. Rising on the tides of eternity. Your essential youth, the marrow melting in your bones. Your love, a soaring sound, heard in your most intimate ripples.
Reach out and take my hand, and walk with me. Let’s journey deeper. Into forests and ancient woodlands. Let’s take a long walk among these tall trees. Our feet, free to follow familiar paths, a silence of soothing sounds surround us. Protect us.
I’ll breathe deep and fill my lungs with the scent of the forest. I’ll write poems for you. A romance of words to sooth you.
Time, turns slow. The forest falls silent. Only the sound of our feet pressing into the bracken and moss. Leaves hush in an easy breeze. A twig snapping. You see deer in the distance.
This view is ours. Since childhood. Ancient and divine. When once we made our love, naked in the company of trees. But now, society says no, and we curse our loss, of confidence and freedom. Who could look upon our wood and fail to hear her call?
And just for a moment I want you to close your eyes and start to breathe deeply. Begin to relax. Remember you are safe and divinely guided.
Take deep breaths, relax your shoulders and picture the moon shining her light over you, cloaking you in warm silver light.
Allow yourself to relax more and more. And let go. I want you to begin to breath very slowly and deeply. In through your nose and out through your mouth. Slowly and deeply, breathing away any tension with every slow outbreath.
Just relax more and more, and with every word you begin to feel more relaxed, from the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
And you become aware of all the tiny muscles in and around your eyes. Just feel these tiny muscles loosen and relax. And your eyelids are heavy, any tension in your forehead has disappeared, as all the muscles there are loose and relaxed.
And all the muscles in your jaw are have become totally relaxed, and your tongue rests gently on the bottom of your mouth.
Peace. Serenity. Contentment. Intermixed; a cocktail creating an unmatched feeling that overwhelms you, just as when you’re at the beach, watching, breathing, listening to the ebb and flow of gently lapping waves.
Clouds drifting on the horizon, shape-shifting, painting their patterns, reflecting on the tides. Colours changing, our world turning, our sun giving way to our moon.
Let go. And listen. Hear my voice, confident and strong inside you. My spoken words etching into your bones. My tongue carving like a knife, etching our names into the trees of our youth. You’re walking barefoot inside the forest of mind.
Follow the paths of my written words as they weave and wander across the page, follow them and journey further and deeper inside me.
And you begin to journey further and further in, growing ever more deeply relaxed with every word; you become aware of a feeling of comfort spreading down through your body, a weight lifting from your neck and shoulders, a load lightening, you’re letting go of any traces of tightness or tension. Breathing evenly, the forest scent filling your senses, grounding you to me.
